On November 3rd and 11th 2018, IAAS LC IPB organized an event called Youth Agricareture (YACT) 2018, the annual event from IAAS Indonesia. Youth Agricareture is a social project initiated by IAAS Indonesia as a form from youth to improve the living standards of rural communities in 8 regions: Bogor, Bandung, Semarang, Surakarta, Yogyakarta, Malang, Mataram and Banjarmasin by developing their potentials and divide them into 3 focus concepts, which are education, agriculture & environment and empowerment.
Youth Agricareture 2018, with the theme “Food Diversification”, invited people to acknowledge the importance of food diversification. Youth Agricareture (YACT) Goes To School 2018 was held on November 3rd 2018 at Pesantren Pertanian Darul Falah, Bogor. This event got a good appreciation and enthusiasm from the 54 participants which are the students of Pesantren Pertanian Darul Falah and SMA Plus Bina Bangsa Sejahtera. YACT Goes to School started at 08.00 and finished at 11.50.
Alfi Irfan, as the first speaker, explained food diversification and his role in Agrisocio about how we could start to be a sociopreuner in Indonesia. After that, our next speaker Dewi Sartika explained about the best solution for food diversification and her journey created Nisda Eggroll. Next, she demonstrated how to make eggroll with the students in workshop session, the eggroll was gluten-free, because it was made from modified cassava flour.
Next, we were having a focus group discussion session. In this session, the students talked about the best alternative for food diversification then wrote the idea on a mind map. Next, the students did the presentation and explained their mind map.
Finally, YACT Goes to School was closed by announcement of the best presentation. We hope, YACT Goes to School will continue to sharpen the awareness of students regarding food diversification and the best solution we could give.
The next event from IAAS LC IPB is Youth Agricareture (YACT) Goes to Village Concept Project (VCP) that was held on Sunday, 11th of November 2018 at Kampung Jabal Rahmah, Tapos 1 Village. The YACT Goes to VCP 2018 talked about Food Diversification with the involvement of 38 people of Kampung Jabal Rahmah, 9 volunteers from non-IAAS members as mentors and 6 partners from Himagizi IPB.
YACT Goes to VCP was started at 09.00 AM and ended at 11.50 AM. As an opening, the MC introduced what is food diversification to participants. And then, Himagizi IPB demonstrated how to make Nugget Jagung and Es Singkong with participants. Himagizi IPB also shared the tips to make it. After that, the importance of food diversification was given through group discussion. In each group, there were one or two volunteers as mentors. The discussion lasted for 15 minutes and the participants from Desa Jabal Rahmah were very interested about the topics.
After group discussion, all participants were joining free consultation. The consultation was focusing on the impact of their consumption habits. The participants were very enthusiast to know their weights and heights from the health tools that have been provided. Before the closing of YACT 2018, the lucky participants got a door prize from YACT 2018 and Gapoktan Sumberjaya. As an appreciation, the project officer of YACT 2018, M Anbiya Al Hakim gave a certificate to Desa Jabal Rahmah, Gapoktan Sumberjaya and Himagizi IPB that have been involved in this event.
Youth Agricareture 2018 is expected to sharpen the awareness about food diversification and improve the best solution of it.
